Cynthia Ann Crawford (born February 20 in 1966) is an American model and actress as well as a television star. She was a supermodel and an iconic figure on magazines covers as well as runways and fashion ads in the 1990s and the 1980s. Her career later expanded to acting and business ventures. Crawford received a phone call during her sophomore year from a local clothing shop regarding modeling. But, it was viewed as a joke by two of her peers. Crawford was offered a job by a different store the following year to do a modeling job for them. The store also hosted an event for fashion. In her senior year, local photographer Roger Legel, whose duties included capturing a different college girl to be that week's coed in the DeKalb Nite Weekly, asked to shoot her photo for the publication; the result was her first cover. Her enthusiastic feedback and the picture encouraged her to take up modeling. At first, she was a part of an agency that was small, and was bought by Elite Model Management shortly after she signed. In 1983 she entered Elite's Look of the Year contest at the age of 17 and was selected for the national finals.
